Facebook Releases Stand-alone Messenger App

In an effort to compete with Google+'s huddles, and the upcoming iMessage service from Apple, Facebook has released a stand-alone messenger app for iOS and Android. The app offers chatting with multiple users, multimedia messages, and posting your location. It allows users to connect to their Facebook chat, and communicate across platforms, including computers, other mobile devices, and even cell phones through sms.
