Apple Post Final Cut Pro X FAQ

Diposting oleh fawaid on Rabu, 29 Juni 2011

In order to help alleviate user's confusion over the new and improved(?) version of Final Cut Pro, Apple has release an FAQ. In it, they answer a number of concerns users have expressed over the update. Some answers may trouble users. Apple says you will not be able to import projects from older versions of Final Cut Pro into the latest version. They say that there are too many differences between the two suites. It seems as though they may have tried a solution, but couldn't find a good one. They do assure users though, that they can have both Final Cut Pro X and an older version on their Mac, and they will both work in Lion.

The FAQ can be found here.

Final Cut Pro X Refunds and Hidden Features

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 28 Juni 2011

Apple has heard their customer's complaints. Despite the fact that the App Store has a "no refund" policy, Apple has began issuing refunds to people who are dissatisfied with Final Cut Pro X. This is a one time deal, according to Apple. Want a refund yourself? Try complaining to Apple, you may just get one.

Are you one of those unhappy professionals? You can leave the pitchforks and torches at home, Apple is working on adding the features users have requested. In fact, the latest version of the video editing software may be already capable of performing one of the most requested features.

Final Cut Pro X may be capable of importing projects from older versions of Final Cut Pro. Evidence in system files for the application reveal the option to import a Final Cut Pro project. However, it seems Apple decided not to include it at the time of launch, for one reason or another. Apple may enable this feature in the near future. It may have been excluded from the application at the time of launch because it wasn't ready yet. It shouldn't take Apple too long to implement the features users have requested.

Final Cut Pro X has a lot of potential, that much is obvious. But perhaps Apple should have waited to release the application, as it's clearly lacking a number of the features that professionals need.

Final Cut Pro X Getting Mixed Reviews

Diposting oleh fawaid on Kamis, 23 Juni 2011

If you're a professional video editor, you've probably been looking forward to the latest version of Final Cut Pro. However, you may want to wait a bit until upgrading.

While some users have been very pleased with the update, others have not. Those who like it praise the new interface, performance enhancements, and media organization options. However, there are far more critical reviews of it. They complain that it's not compatible with previous versions of Final Cut Pro, you can only import projects from iMovie, that their 3rd party plugins no longer work, that the interface has made it more like iMovie, that there is an adjustment period for the interface, lack of scratch disks for storing rendering data, and more.

Many of these issues can be fixed with updates. Third party plugin developers could update their plugins, and Apple could add the other requested features. Seeing as it's one of their most popular professional software suites, Apple will most likely dedicate time into improving Final Cut Pro X. Still, if you rely on Final Cut Pro for work, you may want to wait to upgrade, at least until you can import old FCP projects.
