Gift for the ART teacher

Diposting oleh fawaid on Rabu, 28 September 2011

Having taken Art classes since I was a young child, I have a special place in my heart for Art Teachers. The classroom teachers get lots of back to school gifts, holiday and end of year gifts but what about the Art Teacher? She is assigned to ALL the classes and ALL the children in elementary school so I wanted to create a gift just for her!

supplies:
Free ART saying printable - download here
art supplies
handy tote/container to put it in
misc ribbons, yards, trims, etc

Step 1: Our school website has a "wish list" for each teacher. Including the Art Teacher. We gathered the supplies from her wish list including items like - markers, colored pencils, erasers, pencils, gluesticks, etc. I think adding in a gift certificate to a local craft store would be great too!

Step 2: I found a nice sized tote to put the supplies in which could also come in handy for whatever she needs it for in her classroom. I also included a pencil holder to help keep her organized.

Step 3: Print off the ART saying and frame or create a card with it. I had mine printed at a 1 hour place instead of using my computer and then made it into a card.

Adding the finishing touches by taking several different pieces of trims, ribbon, yarn, etc and tying it around the tote. Add your card and surprise the ART teacher at your school!

The Art teacher will LOVE you for it!
I will be linking up HERE!

Teacher Appreciation gift - with guest J&M's Eye Candy

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 30 Agustus 2011

Hello Brassy Apple lovelies!
It's us again from J&M's Eye Candy Blog
This time it's me K, aka Kristine :)
My sister in law Britney opened up the fun series here, and now I get to close it out.

Today I wanted to share with you a fun, easy DIY Teacher Appreciation Gift.
First Gather Your Supplies:

Please note: everything is not shown
Metal Cookie Sheet
Chalkboard Spray Paint
Painters Tape
Two BIG Binder Clips
Ribbon

Optional:
Patterned Paper/Embellishments
Adhesive (I used glue dots)
Cover Button Kit
Magnets
Scraps of Fabric
Chalkboard Pen
Chocolates

Let's get started!!

Tape the sides of your cookie sheet, and apply the chalkboard spray paint as directed. I only did one coat, because I'm a wee bit impatient (wink wink).

While that's drying, make buttons using the kit with the scraps of fabric. Make as directed. This was my first time and it's SO easy!! I see lots of custom buttons in my future! Adhere a magnet to the back, for a fun coordinating magnet.

Adhere coordinating patterned paper and any other embellishments you want to the cookie sheet

Use fun "school theme" quotes

Use the binder clips and ribbon as shown

The finished project!
And just as an extra bonus, because teachers are AWESOME, I'm also gifting a chalkboard pen and some chocolates with this gift idea.
And there you have it! Have fun with it by personalizing it using certain school colors, and/or the school mascot. The possibilities are endless, and that's what makes this project so fun!

In so many words.....gift idea!!!

Diposting oleh fawaid on Minggu, 23 Mei 2010

I created some of these up as Christmas gifts for family and knew I would use the same idea again for so many other "gift giving" events/holidays (ex. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Baby Shower gift, for Teachers, Weddings, etc)

Wordle creates a fun display of the words you pop into the "create" screen and then you can tweak the font, colors and layout.

These would make a great Teacher gift for the end of the year. Add the teacher's name, your child's name, school year, name of the school, etc. to really personalize it.

Here are a few tips when using wordle:

1. There are options for font, colors and layout so keep playing around with it until you get the look you want
2. If you want a word to appear larger than the other words type it into the create box several times
3. Once you hit the "GO" button to see your creation you can't go back and edit your words (as least I don't think so) The create screen will be blank. So it's a good idea to create your list in Word or copy and paste it there until you get your "wordle" how you want it
4. It doesn't spell check so be sure you spell correctly
5. Lastly, if you want to string more than one word together (ex. a quote or first and last name, etc) use this symbol ~ between the words and it will connect them together.

It really is simple - don't let my tips deter you. Just wanted to share a few things I learned along the way!
Have fun! (how fun would these be done up for a play room, or kitchen, etc? You can go crazy!)

Last Minute Christmas Ideas.......

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 15 Desember 2009

Here are some great last minute DIY gift ideas.... and they are inexpensive too!

One of my favorite's for almost anyone - teachers, family members, friends, etc - is Hot/Cold Therapy Sacks. They whip up super easy and everyone appreciates them. Personalize them in a monogram, create them in all sizes, colors/patterns, and even create them using old sports t-shirts for the guys in your life!

Be "cool" with the girlies by gifting them arm warmers in a pattern they will love! Customize the length for toddlers to tweens! So easy to convert into leg warmers for babies too!

And to wrap things up there are a bunch of ebooks in the Brassy Apple Shop to craft up something unique, original and fun! You can create custom Shaggy Mosaic Jeans for the Holiday or any other season/occasion! These are great for boys, girls and women too!

Take a peek at the other ebooks and crafty appliques that can be applied to jackets, pillowcases, handbags, skirts and more! Make it Handmade Holiday!

DIY - Therapy Sacks

Diposting oleh fawaid on Sabtu, 07 Maret 2009

(Be sure to upload your photos from trying this project into the Brassy Apple Projects Flickr group!)

This a fun, easy and quick project that is great to give as gifts anytime of the year! and easier on the figure than a plate of sweets. ;)

Hot/Cold Therapy Sacks

supplies needed:
sewing machine thread
fabric - at least a fat quarter
wheat (You can use rice too)
essential oil - you pick the scent

Step 1: Pick the fabric you like. You can create a pattern using paper for future/multiple use or just measure your piece and cut. I usually cut my fabric to be about 14 x10 inches.

Step 2: Fold your fabric, right sides together so you piece will now measure about 7x10. Sew down 2 sides together leaving one of the short ends open. You can trim your corner or any excess fabric if you want to.

Step 3: Turn your fabric inside out so the right side of the fabric is showing. Give it a quick press with a hot iron to press out your seams and make the fabric looks crisp.

Step 4: Pour your wheat into a large bowl. (this can be purchased in the bulk section of your grocery store for very cheap) Add a few drops of essential oil (optional). This creates a nice aroma as the wheat is heated up. Some of the favorites are lavendar, vanilla, lilac, etc. Stir the wheat to help distribute the oil.

Step 5: Fill your sack with wheat. If you are making a sack this size, I like to use about 3 1/2 cups. Anywhere between 3 -4 cups is a good amount.

Step 6: Turn under the top (open) edge about a 1/2 inch. I just hold both sides of the open edge and turn it under lining up the to seams at the top. It's quick and easy ;)

Step 7: Pin the edge you have just turned under and sew

Step 8: You are finished! You can make these in any size, shape or fabric. They work well for both women and men. I made one using the logo and colors of our local football team for a teachers husband who is a big fan!

Step 9: You can package them any way you like but I always attached a little poem with them.

Poem

This little pillow filled with wheat,

Is such a comfort that can’t be beat.

Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes
on HIGH and kiss those aches
and pains goodbye.

Apply it to the troubled spot,

The heat will ease the pain a lot.

Or warm those little toes, so cold.

You'll find this nice to
have and to hold.

Or freeze it for a little while,

And fix that boo-boo up in style.

Instead of a compress made of ice,

Use this pillow of wheat that feels so nice!

These are great for many occasions/holidays to give as gifts. Take a peek HERE at what a fellow blogger/seamstress did from my tutorial.

Thank you!
