Mom it Monday #2 - paper plate Halloween

Diposting oleh fawaid on Minggu, 09 Oktober 2011

Here we go! Making Monday's a bit better for Mom's everywhere!

It's the FIRST LINK UP party for Mom it Monday! Your chance to share your crafting, activity, cooking, party and everyday FUN for families and/or moms and their kids to do together!

Here's my idea with the link up to follow down below!

Paper Plate Halloween

Supplies:
Paper plates
Paint
Brushes
Stapler

Step1: Paint the paper plates. I had in mind the idea of jack o lanterns but my kids took it to the next level and wanted to create NOT ONLY pumpkins, but ghosts, witches, frankensteins, goblins, vampires, etc. Love their imagination!

Remember to always "prep" your space. We have an old tablecloth that is used for painting. I don't have to worry about paint getting on it or the table. Helps the kids not stress either and enjoy the project!

Let them create however they'd like it to look and not how you think it should :)

When they are dry take 3 plates and using the stapler from a shape like this:

Simply place to plates with their back together and staple 1 edge.

Now it's a fun 3D form that can sit on a table or hang from the ceiling in their bedroom and it's got 3 different images THEY painted on the sides!

Now it's YOUR turn to LINK UP!

1. direct link only - no shops, no selling!
2. Please grab a button and/or link back to the party! (text link, sidebar or directly in your post!)
3. Enjoy!!!

Halloween Skeleton Tutorial......

Diposting oleh fawaid on Rabu, 14 Oktober 2009

Craft up a fun t-shirt for your little "ghoul" or "goblin" this Halloween season! It's easy to create your own Halloween fun this year by using a new tshirt or upcycling an older one!

Skeleton ribcage w/ Heart Applique:

materials:

Ribcage Appliques (copy/print from below)

2 Heart Appliques (copy/print from below)

Tshirt

White fabric

Red fabric

coordinating thread

Heat n' Bond or similar product

Scissors

Iron

Pencil

Click on the applique templates below, right click copy and then paste into WORD or save. You can resize (shrink or enlarge) to fit your shirt the best.

Print out your applique templates and cut out.

Take your white and red fabrics and apply some Heat n' bond with an iron according the package directions. Cut a piece large enough for your applique pieces.

Choose a heart to use and trace onto the heat n' bond. Do the same with the ribcage. Cut out shapes.

Peel the paper back off of the fabric and flip over your shapes. Position your applique pieces onto your shirt to find the placement you like. Once they are in position, take off the ribcage and iron the heart onto the shirt according to package directions.

Sew the heart onto the shirt using a straight stitch, zig zag, satin stitch or whatever decorative or simple stitch you like.
Replace the ribcage and iron onto the shirt. Sew it on following the same instructions as above.

and you are DONE!

Extra tips and ideas:
  • Create it in various sizes - think baby onesies up to adult!
  • Add some extra up "ghoulish" elements like worms, snakes, other organs, etc.......
  • Use the applique template with other materials such as paper
  • It's not just for t-shirts! Get creative!
If you craft up some Halloween items from this tutorial, upload and share your photos in the Brassy Apply Flickr group!

Apron Chatter........

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 17 Juni 2008

I was pretty excited to participate in my first ever Apron Swap this past month. It seems like I always find out about them to little too late. The theme was ric rack, which I have never worked with but figured I was up for the challenge. ;)

Here is the apron I created. It's got a bit of Ginger Blossom mixed in there. I also added a few clusters of buttons. Some with a little "shine" to them.

Here is the arpon I received from Nicki. She also sent along the most beautiful and large avocados from California and a great recipe booklet. So sweet! Thanks Nicki! I love my new apron!!!!

If you are in the mood to hop on the Apron making bandwagon, here's a swap that is open and getting started! Booming Aprons is having a Halloween in July swap! Doesn't that sound like fun???

Follow the link for the details but you only have until June 30th to sign up!
