It's the week before Christmas and I can feel the excitement building!

It's our new favorite thing to do this winter! We haven't had much snow yet and it's been FREEZING outside BUT my kids have still been enjoying the snow!

A new Christmas Tradition we are starting this year is 25 days of Christmas story books! I pulled out our Christmas books that we normally set out for the Holidays, then bought a few more (from the bookstore and the thrift store too) to make up 25. Wrap all the books and label them with numbers 1 - 25 if you want.

Place them under the tree and enjoy opening a Christmas Storybook each night to read as a family! It's not to late to start! Wrap up what you have already and then grab a few more over the next couple of days.
It's another fun way to count down to Christmas and the kids love opening a present each night!

It's time again to link up your family friendly ideas, kids activities, parties, etc!
We created some one night and they were a hit with my family!
supplies:
Q tips
construction paper
glue
white paper/marker
scissors
Step 1. Pre cut out some skeleton heads from the white paper.
Step 2. Let the kids draw their own skeleton face.
Step 3. Assemble the "bones" with Q tips making a rib cage, arms and legs. Glue into place.
Step 4. Cut some of the Q tips in half for shorter pieces like fingers, feet, etc.
Let their imagination fly! We ended up with all sorts of skeletons doing funny things!

It's time to LINK UP Again! Share your favorite ideas to do with your kids/family - craft, cook, play, etc.
The idea I am sharing today is to Create a Family Night! Pick 1 night a week that for a few hours you focus just on your family - and STICK to it! No phones or computers interrupting. Let them have your attention and enjoy doing something together. It can be as simple as playing board games or going for a bike ride to an activity that is more elaborate. It will be something your kids will forward to each week!

Here we go! Making Monday's a bit better for Mom's everywhere!
It's the FIRST LINK UP party for Mom it Monday! Your chance to share your crafting, activity, cooking, party and everyday FUN for families and/or moms and their kids to do together!
Here's my idea with the link up to follow down below!
Paper Plate HalloweenSupplies:
Paper plates
Paint
Brushes
Stapler
Step1: Paint the paper plates. I had in mind the idea of jack o lanterns but my kids took it to the next level and wanted to create
NOT ONLY pumpkins, but ghosts, witches, frankensteins, goblins, vampires, etc. Love their imagination!
Remember to always "prep" your space. We have an old tablecloth that is used for painting. I don't have to worry about paint getting on it or the table. Helps the kids not stress either and enjoy the project!
Let them create however they'd like it to look and not how you think it should :)
When they are dry take 3 plates and using the stapler from a shape like this:
Simply place to plates with their back together and staple 1 edge.
Now it's a fun 3D form that can sit on a table or hang from the ceiling in their bedroom and it's got 3 different images THEY painted on the sides!

It's MONDAY!!! And today I kick off a new regular feature - Mom it Monday!
Each Monday I will share a family/kid friend activity, idea, tutorial, craft, fun recipe to make with your family, etc. AND starting NEXT Monday you too will be able to link up and share your kid friendly ideas to! Get ready to link up in 1 week! :)
Today's idea is a quick, easy way to put a new spin on lunch time!
Serve it in a muffin baking tin!
I picked up this small (6 cup) muffin tin at $1.00 store.
Serving lunch in a muffin tin lets you give small portions of lots of things! It's a great way to introduce new foods, keeps things separated for those kids that don't like their food to touch (I have one of those) and just makes it really fun!!!
This meal has been kids tested, mother approved and it even got a thumbs up from my 2 year old!

Happy Monday!
I know Monday's aren't generally people's favorite day BUT I'd like to change that - a bit anyway.
Besides my designs, patterns, tutorials, etc I tend to sneak in a bit about being a mom too. Sometimes to me it feels out of place so I haven't shared as many projects as I'd like. UNTIL now!
Starting today, each Monday here on the Brassy Apple blog will be MOM IT MONDAY!
I will share a kids craft idea, party idea, fun twist on family dinner, family activity, etc. Things that pertain to kids and family life. The weekends are always fun or full of activities but sometimes it's making it through the week that can be rough! (wink)
I hope that MOM it MONDAY will be a resource for you available at the beginning of the week for whenever you need it during the week!
