Airplay and iMessages coming to Mac OS?

Lion showed that features of iOS could easily be ported over to Mac OS. Now it's rumored that two more popular iOS features will be on their way over to the Mac, Airplay Mirroring and iMessages.

You can already use Airplay within iTunes to stream your music and movies to an Apple TV. However, Airplay mirroring, like that on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, would allow users to stream whatever is on the screen of their Mac to their Apple TV, essentially making any TV a wireless screen for your Mac.

As for iMessages, it's to be expected. Apple released FaceTime for the Mac soon after its release for iOS. It only makes sense that Apple would want their all in one messenger client on Mac OS as well as every iOS device.

The two technologies are currently in development, and could see a release within the next few months.

iMessage For Mac?

Apple's new iMessage app for iOS 5 looks great. Multimedia chat that's fast, and works more like an instant messaging app than a texting service. It even has read receipts, and can be used by iOS devices that can't send text messages. You can even move between devices, keeping the same conversation going.

But what could make it even greater? iMessage on your Mac. The video above isn't officially from Apple. In fact, Apple has not mentioned plans to release an iMessage application for the Mac. However, Apple did release FaceTime for the Mac a few months after releasing it for iOS, so this is a possibility.
