Gucci for iPad

iPad from Apple is really the most fashionable gadget of a season.

Dresses for iPad from Gucci

It's not surprising, because the best brands of fashion aspire to "dress" the device in the own "dresses". Fashionable brand Gucci has presented a cover for iPad which will appear in shops in two weeks.

In shops of brand they will appear since June, 15th at the price of $230. Also, Gucci promises, that in the autumn the assortment becomes wider. It's planned to add a "dresses variants": dark green and beige fabric with covers.

Victory is sweet

Diposting oleh fawaid on Senin, 28 Juni 2010

June being nearly over is cause for celebration in the floral biz. Each weekend has been stuffed full with weddings, we've made flowers for 13 brides this month. After our last June wedding I devoured a piece of blueberry cheesecake from Baked in about 2 minutes as a "celebration". I did not know it was possible to eat so fast while basically sleepwalking with exhaustion.

I can honestly say I still love weddings. It's beyond sweet to be a part of a couple's wedding day and I never get tired of of seeing a girl in a white dress looking nervous or thrilled or dazed.

That being said- it is not lost on me that all of these weddings have turned my life into the "before" of a bad 90s romantic comedy. Quirky girl spends her days making bouquets for weddings and romantic boyfriends and then goes home to disheveled apartment filled with long haired cats and floral dresses. And eats a lot of cheesecake in the process.

(And honestly- a house to one's self and lots of cheesecake sounds just as good if not better than this so-called "marriage" thing people keep talking about.)

Fabric wall art (2).....+ a winner

Diposting oleh fawaid

I wanted to share another idea using the Fabric Wall Art tutorial I shared earlier - simple CIRCLES

Using the same technique shared in the tutorial , I used some large kitchen bowls, glasses and small cups to great a variety of shapes. I placed the circles on the wall with some tape first to get the placement that looked best. The circles add a nice "organic" feel to contrast the many square and rectangular frames that adorn the walls in this room.

Hopefully seeing this second idea will help to inspire you to create something fun for your walls too! and don't forget to share your photos in the Brassy Apple Flickr Group!

My photo friday......design helper

Diposting oleh fawaid on Kamis, 17 Juni 2010

This past Sunday evening I was leisurely hanging out with my husband in the living room. While he watched basketball, I was fiddling with a mock up of a new pattern coming out (yeah!). Because I was using the floor space, it didn't take long for my little guy to jump into the mix and begin "helping".........

Oh if only you could see how many straight pins he ended up sitcking into the fabric! It was so funny to watch. He then proceeded to "make notes"  - on top of my notes of course- just like he was working away on his next design.......Maybe I have a little Joel Dewberry in the making.....LOL....

Ella Averill Robinson and Calla Lily Cole

Diposting oleh fawaid

My big sister is staying at our parents house to convalesce after surgery and I went home to visit her this past weekend. She is holding up wonderfully and the house is filled with stray kittens my mom has been nursing with an eye dropper.

Delectable, delicious, completely addictive, tiny kitties. I found myself holding one or two to my chest at all times. Even At The Dinner Table. I just couldn't let them go. Bestest sisters and kittens curled up in bed, it was like a reenactment of Little Women gone weirdly hippie as Micha may or may not have had a collection of new agey crystals at her bedside.

My cats in Brooklyn are cruel beasts- no petting, no sitting on laps, no getting to bury your face in kitty fur. But oh good lord, these kitties were made for kissing.

My mom named them after two of my great great grandmothers. Calla Lily (Lily was her maiden name) has the orange head and Ella Averill has the black head and the (nearly) bad attitude.

For the first time ever, I'm having heart palpitations over cats. A love at first sight, soul mate, get married and have kittens kind of love. Maybe this new found admiration will inspire long hoped for mutual respect on the homefront?

Hmm. Probably not.

Itty bitty Apron Tutorial.......for dolls

Diposting oleh fawaid on Senin, 14 Juni 2010

After unleashing some creativity after moving and sharing several home decor tutorials, let's get back to sewing!

You know I love aprons...and these itty bitty versions are just DARLING, sew up super quick, and hardly take any fabric!! Great use for the scrap pile you have been accumulating.

Sometimes little hands have a hard time with doll clothes. I designed this doll apron to make it not only easy to construct but hopefully easy for little hands to dress up their dolls on their own!

If you stitch up some of these little cuties please share your photos in the Brassy Apple Flickr Group

Materials:
fabric
thread
pins
scissors
tulle (optional)
elastic rope (or an elastic hair tie)
fabric adhesive

STEP 1:  click on the template below, print or copy and paste and print. Then cut out the 2 pattern pieces.

STEP 2:  Place the BODY of Apron piece on your fabric. Pin in place and cut 2. Or Fold your fabric in half and cut 2 at the same time.

STEP 3: Cut 1 piece of elastic rope 4" long. Cut another piece 3" long. You can also substitute an elastic hair rubber band and use that. Just cut off the metal part.

STEP 4: POCKETS - Use a small square of a fabric adhesive like Heat n' bond on the fabric for the pockets, trace the pockets and then cut them out.

STEP 5: Take one of the BODY of Apron pieces cut from the fabric and place the pockets about 3" down from the top. This will be the front. Iron the pockets on according to the package directions.

STEP 6: Attaching the neck strap - Place the 4" piece of elastic onto the top of the apron as pictured below. Using a sewing machine, secure the ends of the elastic in place with short forward and backward stitches.

STEP 7 - attaching the waistband loop - Place the 3" piece of elastic on the top side of the front of the apron and just below one of the waist corners (see the picture below). Secure just 1 END in place using the same method as instructed above.

STEP 8: Place the second BODY of Apron piece on top of the other with right sides together. Pin together on 3 sides (see photo below).

Sew the apron together on the 3 pinned sides and stop as directed below.

STEP 9: Lift the top Apron piece and find the "loose" end of the waistband elastic.

Pull the end over to the corner just slightly past the edge of the fabric.

Place the top Apron piece back over the elastic and secure the once "loose" end of the elastic in place but stitching over it many times with a forward and backward motion.

Continue sewing down the length of the apron leaving the bottom hemline open.

STEP 10: Turn the apron right side out and press. Fold the bottom hemline under about 1/4" - 1/2" and press.

STEP 11: You can simply stitch the bottom hemline closed OR you can add a fun ruffle!

Fold the tulle so it has many layers and cut a strip about 2" wide (fold it many times or just a few. The fullness depends on the look you want! ) Don't worry about being exact with the width, we will do a trim later.

Our strip ended up being just over 6" long.

STEP 12: Pleat, tuck and fold the tulle to fit into the width of the bottom of the apron. Pin into place and stitch along the bottom hemline.

Trim the bottom edge of the tulle ruffle for a clean, straight look.....

and lastly, top stitch the top part of the apron further securing the neck strap into place!

The apron easily slips over over the hips and then over the head. And just look at how chic this little homemaker is now!

Remember....if you craft some up, I'd love to see them!~ share your photos in the Brassy Apple Flickr Group!
