I think every house needs a chalkboard. We absolutely LOVE ours! This one sits in the middle of our framed gallery wall in the kitchen/dining area - aka Grand Central Station. It gets changed daily and my kids will call me out on it if there isn't something new each day ;)
It welcomes guests, counts down to holidays, gives inspiration, holds messages, etc. My 6 yr. old was having a tough time with not "being perfect" on his school work so I tried to get him to embrace learning new things and that's it's OK to make mistakes. He sort of half smiled, half rolled his eyes when we read the chalkboard that next morning.
