New Apple TV in the Works

The second generation of the Apple TV was released last September. After over a year, some evidence that the next Apple TV is in the works has finally been revealed... just days after I  went out and bought one (more on that later). A reference to an "Apple TV 3,1" has been found in iOS 5. The current Apple TV is referred to as 2,1.

What could it mean? Will Apple update the Apple TV with the new A5 processor? Will the Apple TV finally get apps? Weather, stock, internet browser, games, and more, all possible with the Apple TV, but the features haven't been released yet.

The update could still be a few months away. It could be released before the holiday season, in early 2012, or next year with other iOS devices. There's nothing but a bit of code in the latest version of iOS 5 suggestion that a new model is in the making, so there's no telling when it could be released.
