No, the new iPad is not running hot

A new Apple product, a new, silly rumor about something wrong with it. The new iPad gets a little warm in the lower left corner. And by. A little warm, I mean it's in no way uncomfortable. It's just warm. Consumer Reports, in their normal, alarmist fashion reported that it "runs significantly hotter than the iPad 2". Wow! Significantly hotter? That sounds terrible! How much hotter, Consumer Reports? 13 degrees. Yes, just 13 degrees. If it was 55 degrees outside on one day, and 68 degrees the next, you wouldn't complain about boiling alive in 68 degrees, would you?
Consumer Reports is notorious for blowing things out of proportion. They told buyers to avoid the iPhone 4 and 4S (AT&T only for the 4S) due to antennagate. Unsurprisingly, the antenna issue wasn't a big deal at all. The iPhone 4S is the most popular smartphone on all major US carriers. People aren't constantly dealing with dropped calls. As it turns out, the antenna issue wasn't an issue at all.
The new iPad most certainly does not get hot. I've used mine until the battery nearly died playing games and browsing the web, and the corner never got anything more than warm. It makes my MacBook feel incredibly hot in comparison. So, here's a message to Consumer Reports and everyone else trying to make a big deal over this: grow up.
