BANGALORE, INDIA: The launch of Global Shapers Karnataka, established by the World Economic Forum, as an exclusive community of exceptional youth with extraordinary achievements in their 20s, is happening on 24 March, 2012 at the SAP Labs campus in Whitefield, Bangalore. The Forum’s agenda is to provide the chosen youth a global platform to voice fresh ideas and solutions for the world's most pressing solutions.
The Global Shapers, Karnataka will recognise Bangaloreans who have made a significant impact through their achievements and contributions. However, the vision is to look beyond Bangalore and create a bigger platform for millions of youth across Karnataka State to shape the future by integrating their personal, community and global dimensions.
This year, some of the names that have been recognised as Global Shapers are Divya Spandana, film personality, Pankaj Advani, ace billiards champion, Rohan Bopanna, Davis cup winner, Phanindra Sama, founder and CEO, RedBus and Sridhar Sundaram, Associate Manager, SAP Labs India. The list showcases shapers who have made a difference from various walks of life.
“What differentiates this event from the other youth leadership summits is that the focus would not just be inspiring conversations, but actual result driven empowerment. For example, we have already collated a database of 25,000 deserving youth, who would be given access to opportunities like scholarships, jobs, internships etc.," added Sangeeth Varghese, founding curator, Global Shapers.
Expressing his enthusiasm at hosting the event at the SAP Labs India campus, V.R. Ferose, MD, SAP Labs India, and co-founder Global Shapers, Karnataka, said: “At SAP Labs, we take pride in nurturing individuals to create a dynamic difference through their contributions. It therefore gives us immense pleasure to host the inaugural Global Shapers Karnataka meet.”
The launch of the Global Shapers Karnataka is being addressed by eminent leaders drawn from various spheres like Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-chairman of Infosys, Kiran Bedi, first lady IPS officer in India, Rajeev Gowda, Director, Public Policy, IIM Bangalore, etc. All the topics of discussions will be centred on how the youth can create a bigger impact to their communities and well as to themselves.
