BANGALORE, INDIA: Symantec Corp. announced the promotion of Anand Naik as Managing Director - Sales, for India and SAARC, responsible for leading the India sales operations to drive strategic business growth and enhance profitability for customers and partners with Symantec’s portfolio of products and services.

Anand Naik’s appointment follows Ajay Goel’s decision to leave the company. Anand has been with Symantec for over six years and most recently served as director, Technology Sales, India and SAARC, and director, Sales for West Region, Symantec. He brings in-depth understanding of the business environment and active participation in strategic planning and execution with customers and partners.

“India continues to be a strong engine of growth. Symantec’s strength in India today comes from our comprehensive portfolio of services and solutions that enable customers to build business advantage around new and emerging strategic IT trends and challenges,” said Eric Hoh, vice president, Asia South Region, Symantec. “Anand is no stranger to Symantec and under his leadership, I am confident that our India customers and partners will continue to enjoy the confidence of transacting with Symantec to protect and manage their information assets.”

Anand has spent over 19 years in the IT industry and brings deep expertise in transforming customers’ business challenges into solutions that contribute to immediate and long-term success for IT deployments. During his time at Symantec, Anand has held a number of sales, consulting and pre-sales roles across different market and product portfolios. Prior to joining Symantec, Anand was with IBM as head of the Solution Architects team where he was responsible for developing strategic sales, architecture and technical leadership for IBM’s Global System Integrators (SI) through a team of solution architects based in India with responsibilities across global markets.

“I am extremely happy to take up this responsibility of leading the India business; I see a very significant opportunity for Symantec at a time when organizations in India are confronting massive growth in information, security threats and disruptive technology transformations like mobility and cloud computing,” said Naik. “Together with a strong partner and customer ecosystem, I see Symantec in India poised for growth.”

Today, Symantec employs more than 3,500 staff in India, across R&D, sales, marketing and support. While Anand will lead sales, customer and partner relationships and business development, engineering functions across the Symantec development centres in Pune, Chennai and Bangalore will continue to be led by the respective engineering leaders.
