One of the cool features of the iPhone camera is that it can easily and quickly take HDR photos. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, and it means the camera takes two photos, one that is overexposed and one that is underexposed. The iPhone then combines these two photos into one. The end result, is a photo that has incredible detail, even in dark or very bright areas of the photograph.
On iOS ,the both the HDR version and a standard version of the photo are saved. This allows you to compare the two, and decide which one is best. However, you may not need or want this functionality. Apple's got you covered. Just go into settings, tap photos, and set "keep normal photo" to off. It's that simple. Now you don't have to worry about HDR photos taking up twice the space on your iPhone. Now go take some
amazing photos with that iPhone.

The iPhone
has a fantastic camera. But, there is still an issue with it. The aperture is fixes, which limits the photographer's ability to play with the depth of field. In comes Big Lens, a 99¢ app that gives users great control over the depth of field. Not only that, it also has a number of filters to make each shot looks just as good as you want it to. It's easy to apply the mask to the object you want in focus, and even automatically refining the edges of the object. At 99¢, it's a steal. If you're serious about iPhone photography, you've probably used Camera+ in the past. Get ready to add Big Lens to your photography app folder, because this isn't a gimmick, it produces good looking photos with ease.

When the iPhone was first release, the camera was nothing to write home about. However, the iPhone 4S has changed that. With 8MP, an amazing lens, and full 1080p 30FPS video, it's clearly a contender against even point and shoot cameras, let alone other cellphone cameras.
So, just how much has the camera improved over previous generations? I believe the photo above and the one below really speak for themselves.
Incredible. By the iPhone 4S, you have a camera that's not only perfect for daily use, but also for also for more professionally orientated tasks. You can see the full resolution photos at the source,

This is one of the most revolutionary cameras of our time. With a new camera, a bunch of lenses focus on your subject first, then it snaps the photo. The Lytro lets you focus the photo after you take the picture. It does this by recording the "light field". Essentially, it not only records the light hitting the sensor, like a typical digital camera, but it also records the direction of the light ray. In doing so, they've created a camera that uses more software than physical parts, and allows you to take one photo, and produce multiple photos with different levels of focus later.
You can check out examples
here. Below, I have more info, as well as an example of a photo changing focus after the photo was taken.

Snapseed is one of the best photo processing apps on the App Store. It's normally $5, and it's worth the price. Today, however, you can get it for a lot less. $5 less, to be exact. Tomorrow the app will be $5 again, so download it now while you can.
It's a powerful and easy to use photo editing app. Adjust color, exposure, brightness contrast, apply filters, crop, straighten, and more. It won't take you long before you're creating beautiful photos with Snapseed. You can download it
here, free until tomorrow.

Thanks for the wonderful comments on the first "
my photo friday". I think
Lisa summed it up best what I was trying to say before with her comment. She said, "......
I love photography, it is my escape from my normal creative "work". " YES! that's it! I love photography because it's my escape.
This week I am sharing of photo of me and my hubby. We celebrated our 12 year anniversary this week. (aw love.....sigh......) I wanted to capture the two of us on that day so years from now we could look back and see how "young" we looked at this time in our lives.....I am glad he agreed to step in front of the camera and let the tripod capture what it did...........
(if you have a photo friday post you'd like to share, post the link in the comments section)
