Although mine isn't totally complete, a gallery wall is easy to put together and makes a great statement and even a fun conversation piece.
I've shared a few different ways to use frames HERE and HERE and now I will share what my dining room wall looks like. Among many other things I love to decorate with and collect, FRAMES are high on the list - and in any size too!
Pick a wall in your house and fill it floor to ceiling with frames. They don't have to match or contain similar works of art - that's up to you!
Here is a small entry wall at my grandma's house that she filled with different mirrors ( it was decorated for Easter when I took the photo)
I started mine with a pile of frames and mirrors I had been collecting....
I traced the outline of the frames onto wrapping paper and taped the silhouettes on the wall to create a grouping that I liked.
To decided to unify all my frames by painting them the same color. Don't you love spray paint!?!
Instead of leaving my frames blank - which I love that too! - I wanted pops of color and pattern, a sort of eclectic look.
I used simple posterboard to fit inside each frame and then used the posterboard piece to cut the fabric to the right side. Using a spray adhesive, I attached the fabric to the posterboard and inserted them back into the frames. These will be easy to change out for different seasons, holidays, etc.
Replaced the frames on the wall with spacing guide from above......
Added a fun overly large wooden fork and spoon that I thrifted and painted......
before...
and after....
The finishing touch? my favorite part? I cut a board and applied chalkboard to it for the middle frame. It's a fun place to write the menu for the day, a countdown to birthdays/holidays, quotes or silly pictures the kids draw!
If you create a gallery wall - please share your photos in the Brassy apple Flickr group!
I will be linking up with these fun parties!
