After moving last month the boxes are all unpacked but the fun of decorating a new space is still going strong! For "my photo friday" this week I wanted to share one of my favorite corners in the house (and how simple it was to create). This space isn't complete but I love how it's developing so far.
I have heard several times from interior designers to "surround yourself with things you love". The mix of organic, natural pieces and the different textures and colors is one reason I just how this are is turning out.
I've always wanted a wall that was lined with branches. Lucky for me, one evening while out on a walk with my family, a neighbor was cutting down a small tree in this front yard. After asking what he was going to do with the branches (and my husband rolling his eyes just knowing what was coming up next! LOL) the man said I could have all the branches I wanted - free branches for my wall - CHECK!
The glass jars I had already or thrifted for very cheap. The blue rusty metal ball I scored for 10 cents a few years ago at a yard sale. I just loved it the moment I saw it before I even knew the price. I filled the jars with rocks, some sticks, bark and moss I found lying in the grass and few seashells from my crafty supplies box.
The shelf completes the small space in the corner which I got for free as well. To punch it up a bit, I cut up an old map to fit against the back and simply used some spray adhesive to adhere it. I LOVE maps - the colors, the lines, the shapes.....everything! (another project I made over using a map will come later!) A couple of small objects finish it off and give the shelf more dimension.
Hopefully these photos will inspire you to surround yourself with the things you love.....and love the space you are in! (and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money either! )
