EA: iPad is Our Fastest Growing Platform

Alas, the closest I get to driving a Focus RS.

Expect EA to be paying some real attention to the iPad. According to John Riccitiello, Chief Executive of EA, the iPad is their fastest growing gaming platform. He goes on to mention that traditional game consoles have dipped from holding 80% of the gaming market down to 40%.
A few months ago, EA bought Firemint, maker of the Real Racing and Flight Control series for iOS. It's proven to be a very profitable purchase for EA.

The gaming market is changing thanks to new mobile devices. Why buy a dedicated gaming console when a phone or tablet offers so much more? And with iOS 5 and the iPad 2, wireless mirroring can be done with a big screen TV using AirPlay and the Apple TV. Apple may not have initially intended to shake up the gaming market (or maybe they did?) but they've certainly succeeded.
