My photo Friday.....sample

Diposting oleh fawaid on Kamis, 13 Mei 2010

I am a lucky girl.......Some of you may have a love affair or obsession with fabric. If so, you can relate. I created 3 samples for Moda to take to the International Quilt Market next week and I got to work with 2 upcoming lines of fabrics! I was so giddy holding these fabrics that would be new at market. I just felt lucky......

I was able to work with SPIRIT by Lila Tueller and created a Maddie Bee Top and coordinating Shaggy Mosaic Jeans.....

and I also created a Lucy Apron in  FANDANGO by Kate Spain

and the reverse side.....

and a little of the detailing....

see? lucky....... If you are headed to quilt market, you may see these are you meander through the booths. (psst! if you think of it, snap a picture for me. I'd love to see!)

Lucy - she's outta here!

Diposting oleh fawaid on Rabu, 02 September 2009

Have you ever put all your heart and soul into a project? Not to mention time........and let's say it doesn't go so well and worse you feel crushed at the end of it all? I know I am being a bit frank and honest but so many times I have peered into other "crafty/talented" ladies blogs and it all looks so easy. Maybe it is for them. I seem to be on the other side of coin. There is no special magic to make it all work, but there is A LOT of work.

The whole process of patterns has been a journey! *sigh* and there are always lessons to be learned in the journey - ups/downs/joy/sadness........

It's scary to "put yourself" out there. Am I good enough? do I know enough? am I doing it right? am I going to get eaten alive by the "other bigger fish" in the sea????........

I guess by sharing all of this I want you to know YOU can do it too. If you have something that you are passionate about, that fills you until you feel you will burst if you don't create it - then go for it! I have learned to "carve" my own path. Maybe I am not as well known as someone else, maybe I don't have as much knowledge as someone else......maybe I just try it my own way. Who says there is one way of doing it??? Who says I have to work as fast as someone else? I CAN go at my own pace. Do I sometimes feel left behind? sure. Has everything gone smoothly? HECK NO! lol.........have I learned to laugh about it? Yes..........

Now - I thought this post was supposed to be about Lucy? *snicker* It is. The Lucy Apron pattern has officially been sent to the printer! YES the PRINTER! I wish I could breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate. I think I will wait until I actually have the printed version in my hand. Excited? YES. you? :)

It should be arriving in a few weeks and then it will be available for RETAIL and WHOLESALE purchase. If you are interested in carrying LUCY in your shop sign up here. :) I'd love to have you as a client.....

More news to come this week.......can you handle more of my ramblings and insights? ha ha ha.......

So I have made a little bit more progress on my little quilt but not much. Do you ever have so many ideas/projects - there just isn't enough room in your head let alone time to do them all? That's how I have felt these past few weeks.

Trying to piece together what is left of my computer and files after the "big crash" and re-evaluating where I wanted to go from there.... not very much fun. *sigh* But I would hate to part with my creative/blogging/tweeting/sewing/designing side of me - so here I sit. :)

Thank you for the great response to my  Lucy Apron ebook! I would love to see morepictures of how you crafted "her" up! Please send pics my way or better yet - upload and share for all to see in the Brassy Apple flickr group!  FlossieBlossoms on flickr has uploaded and shared hers! thank you thank you!!

The Lucy Apron ebook is also available on the Youcanmakethis.com site AND she has been debuted on the NEW YoucanQUILTthis.com site! woohoo!!! Hopefully more to come from me on the YoucanQUILTthis site - only time shall tell................

Speaking of those sites - if you happened to have purchased my Lucy ebook from one of those in the past month - there was a small glitch with the CASING piece. If you have crafted it up and it didn't quite "work" please send me an email and I will get you the correct pattern piece. Sorry! I'm only human... please forgive :) It happened in the transfer and uploading process.......

Ok - more to come! Better get busy! I am soooo trying to not be so few and far between posting!!! mwah! xo- Meg

GREAT question......

Diposting oleh fawaid on Rabu, 15 April 2009

I received a great question from an interested customer and thought it would be a good idea to share with everyone else. :)

Question: "I am a newbie to using patterns. How does an ebook work? I want to purchase the LUCY pattern, but am not sure if I need to go to a Kinkos to enlarge?"

Answer: Great question huh! I hadn't thought about it since I am very familiar with ebooks and what they are, how they function, etc but it hadn't occured to me that some might not be so sure.

In the Lucy Ebook Pattern most the main (large) pieces for the apron you will construct. I provide illustrations, diagrams, measurements, etc and help you step by step. Some of the smaller pattern pieces are provided and you will simply print off, cut out and use.

An ebook requires a bit more "effort" on the customer's end. Someday there will be a printed version of the Lucy Apron with full size pattern pieces to buy. I had several customers "want it now" so that is why I did the ebook first.
--------------------

Does that help? hopefully.......

I thought I would share a few more "Lucy" photos. There were several photos I just loved from Susan , but had to pick only one for the cover! hummmm..........it's so hard to narrow it down...................

Didn't she do a great job? If you aren't up for sewing your own Lucy apron - I would be happy to send one your way..........
