Apple Granted Patent that will Hurt Android

Things aren't looking so good for Android. Many of the features of the OS were originally suspected to have been copied from iOS. Android was very different before the release of the first iPhone. Also, Google's Eric Schmidt was a board member at Apple, and had an early look at the iPhone. It has been reported that he then went back to Google to get them working on a touch based version of Android, with plenty of features inspired by the iPhone.
Now that Apple's patents are finally getting approval, they're building up an arsenal to use in legal battles against Android manufacturers, and even Google itself.

Apple Sues Samsung for Copying Smart Cover Design

Apple's filed for another lawsuit against Samsung. This time, it's for copying the design of the smart cover. When looking at the two products, it's obvious that Samsung blatantly copied Apple's design. Above, you can see that the "Smart Case" from Samsung copies the functionality of the Smart Cover. It even copied the name! Below, the Samsung covers on the left, and the Apple Smart Cover on the right. If you didn't know, the Smart Cover from Apple came long before the "Smart Case" from Samsung.

ITC Bans HTC Phone Imports due to Patent Infringement

In March of 2010, Steve Jobs said, "We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it". Today, the International Trade Commission finally ruled on a patent case against HTC regarding an Apple patent. As of April 19th of 2012, HTC won't be able to import any phones that violate Apple's patent.

Nokia has submitted one more claim against Apple

Finnish company Nokia has submitted one more claim against Apple, having accused the American company in infringement of five patents. About this is informed in official press release Nokia. The claim is registered in district court of the State of Wisconsin.

Technological forgery

Under statement Nokia, in smart phones iPhone and tablets iPad 3G their (Nokia) own technologies of a voice transfer and data, and also a method of use of the given systems of positioning in appendices are illegally applied.

Also Nokia has accused Apple of loan of innovations in the field of a design of aerials. Nokia asserts, that their workings out improve productivity and allow to create more compact devices.

Patent infringement

In October, 2009 Nokia initiated other proceeding with Apple. Then the company has accused the manufacturer iPhone in infringement of 10 patents. Under statement Nokia, these technologies have been licensed to 40 companies, however Apple illegally them uses in all models iPhone and does not pay company Nokia.

In December Apple has put forward countercharges, having counted 13 patents which are broken by the Finnish company.

Company Apple has redeemed the rights to the Trade Mark iPad at Japanese corporation Fujitsu. According to documents of the American patent department, since March, 17th, 2010 of the right to release of devices under a brand iPad belong companies Apple, informs Business Insider.

Mass buying up of TM

The sum of the transaction with Fujitsu is not disclosed. I will notice, that it not the first case when company Apple to agree about the transaction with owners of Trade Marks. So, in 2007 of the company of Steve Jobs it was possible to receive in the order the Trade Mark iPhone which since 2000 was in company Cisco property.

Apple has accused HTC

American corporation Apple initiated the judicial claim against Taiwan company HTC which is accused of infringement of 20 mobile patents. The statement of claim is submitted to federal court of Delaware and in the Commission on international trade of the USA. Besides it, in the judicial claim such phones as appear: Google Nexus One, HTC Hero, Dream and G1.

The claim without conditions

The judicial claim is initiated by infringement of patents for the technologies connected with the user interface, initial architecture and a hardware stuffing of phones iPhone. Thus corporation Apple does not specify, which indemnification wants from HTC.
"We can sit and observe of how competitors steal our patented inventions or we can struggle with it. We have decided to struggle", — has declared Steve Jobs, chief executive Apple, — "We consider, that a competition it is good, but competitors should create own original technologies, instead of steal ours".
In turn the Taiwan manufacturer of smart phones has refused to recognise itself the infringer of patents Apple.
