More options......Maddie Bee Pattern

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 02 Maret 2010

You saw all the fun from yesterday's post, so let's keep the fun going!!

Marie of Bella Marie Designs on etsy, was my third wonderful pattern tester!

LOVE the vibrant colors!!

Marie used 3 different design options - The Split design on the BOTTOM, the pear applique and a small white ruffle of tulle on both sides of the waistband.

Thank you Marie!!!

"The Maddie Bee Apron Top took me no time at all to whip up.  I sewed it during my daughter's nap time and when she woke up and saw it, her little eyes lit up and she sweetly asked if she could wear it for the rest of the day.  I love the versatility of this simple pattern...the options are endless and it takes very little fabric.  I am definitely making more of these for my girls this summer to throw over a tank top!"  - Marie

---------------------

and lastly (sniff....sniff.....I wish I had more to share) is the fabulous Suzy!

Suzy regrets she did not have a model to use but she create 2 Maddie Bee Tops!

Suzy used 4 different design options - The Split design on the BOTTOM, pockets, square hemline and the extra long waist ties

"I loved this pattern because not only did it fly together so quickly but with the versatile layout options, I could actually make this top with scraps! Once I looked over the instructions, construction was a natural flow and I was able to whip out a second top in less than an hour! Once you make one, you'll want to make many more in all sorts of combinations.  I also love how this top is a great and easy compliment to a pair of jeans and a t-shirt taking basics to a whole new level."  -  Suzy

A HUGE thank you to all my testers on this pattern! I can't wait to see what all of  YOU create with the Maddie Bee Pattern

psst! we've got a fun post tomorrow showing how to create the Maddie Bee with a "theme" in mind....You DON'T want to miss it!

Decisions, decisions....with The Maddie Bee Pattern

Diposting oleh fawaid on Senin, 01 Maret 2010

It's one thing for me to sew up a Maddie Bee apron top and be excited about the pattern, but it's another when I get to see how YOU sew it up! The style, the colors, which fabrics, the options you chose, etc.....now THAT is really exciting! I love seeing how one idea can be spun so many different ways!

I had 4 wonderful ladies help test this pattern and I want to share with you all the different looks they created!

We'll share two of them today and the other two tomorrow! Enough talk, let's get on to the pictures!

Lori of Love Hazel on etsy created this little beauty!
(Besides Lori's blog and shop you can catch her on twitter too...).

Lori used 4 extra design options - The Mini Apron, the Pear Applique, rounded hemline and the Extra Long Waist Ties.

and I just bet she was the CUTEST girl at the park! but still comfortable enough to run around and play!

Love the combination of the fabrics from Sandi Henderson. GREAT job LORI!!!

"I loved making the maddie bee top!  It is such a fun pattern and came together really easily.  I loved that I could use fat quarters to make the entire thing!  I am already trying to think of ways to incorporate using the pattern for my daughter's birthday party in May!  You could really use this for any occasion or theme, which makes it very versatile and fun!!"  - Lori

------------------------
Next up is Jennifer 's (she works at HGTV - cool job huh?!?) darling creation!

The Maddie Bee pattern allows little girls to be "girly" while they jump and play!

Jennifer used 4 extra design options - The Split design on TOP, pockets, rounded hemline and the extra long waist ties.
She also infused her own style into her design and added the pink ruffles! So girly and feminine!

I love seeing little girls in BRIGHT colors. Bravo Jennifer! (fabrics used from Patty Young)

"I was so excited to test the sewing pattern for Megan. And even more excited when I saw it was called The Maddie Bee as my daughter is named Maddie! The pattern is easy to follow and I love that it’s reversible. Two looks in one, that’s my kind of sewing!"  - Jennifer

Creative Nursery........

Diposting oleh fawaid on Jumat, 14 Agustus 2009

So it all started from a whim I got to create a quilt for my sister's upcoming baby girl. I dropped it by and she fell in the love with the colors and patterns and got the "bug" to design and create her nursery in something she really loved! We searched around for the perfect fabrics and found some great deals plus had some help from my twitter friends. (thank you!)

Then she went on create the bedding, accessories and art all on her own to satisfy that "nesting" instinct. The nursery turned out beautifully! It's a wonderful mix of Sandi Henderson's Farmers Market and Ginger Blossom fabric lines. It's girly pink but so much more with all the wonderful colors! Great job Sis!........enjoy the photos........

First quilt......

Diposting oleh fawaid on Senin, 18 Mei 2009

Here is the finished very small and tiny quilt. It started out as just some left over pieces in a bag from Sandi and screamed out "baby quilt" to me. Having never pieced something that before in my life I was a bit hesitant but that only lasted about 2 seconds before I jumped in!  I'm sure it's wasn't created or finished off the way a seasoned quilter would do it but I was winging it here and having alot of fun!

Of course a quilt from me wouldn't be complete without a little Shaggy mosaic detailing! The baby wouldn't expect anything less! *snicker*

Some fun patchwork of patterns and colors and stitching details....

Keeping with the theme of using Sandi's fabrics, I chose two prints for the back of the quilt

and what better way to gift the quilt than in a matching fabric gift box - again from the talented Sandi and the people at Hullabaloo

The verdict? The expecting mommy loves it! I am sure that even though the quilt is far from perfect my new little neice will still love it!

So I did it! I created a pieced quilt! and if I can do - so can you! Try something new and let me know how it goes. xo-Meg

and thanks Sandi for all the inspiration - mwah!

Ginger Blossom ~ looking back

Diposting oleh fawaid on Sabtu, 31 Mei 2008

I was going through some photos and uploading them to flickr when I came across some from a few months ago that I haven't shared yet. Back in February, yikes! - I posted about receiving my Ginger Blossom fabric and how I would be creating something fun with it. Well...................I did but then I got the prego "sickies" and I never shared or did anything else with my fabric. LOL!!!

I created an apron which was just recently raffled off at a Mother's day luncheon for a good cause. The lady who won it was very happy so I was happy!

It's reversible, of course. One side has a really fun layered "flower" style pocket and the reverse side has my 4 quarter style to showcase more color and pattern.

Then I did up a sweet apron top for my daughter to wear for the Easter Weekend. Hunting eggs, family dinners, etc. It added a splash of color to the festivities but could be easily slipped off for her to run around and get dirty in her t-shirt and jeans. ;) Don't we love that as mothers!

Let's start the party! - quilt market day 1

Diposting oleh fawaid on Selasa, 20 Mei 2008

Wow! Ok, I thought the whole weekend was overwhelming but now trying to break it down and figure out which details/events to blog about is just as hard! LOL

But because I love to blog so much, you'll probably get more details than you bargained for! Brace yourselves, here we go!

My roomies - the BoutiqueCafe media gang. (L to R Daria, Me, Amelia)

Here's the scoop on how I got to Market. Daria, the fabulous host of the popular podcast, Boutiquecafe, was going to cover the event and needed a production crew. I used to work for Daria at Boutiquecafe so she invited me along as her production assistant and Amelia was there as the official photographer. We had special badges with big green ribbons on them that said "media". We got alot of attention (stares, whispers, comments, etc) carrying around a camera, cables, microphone, etc. It was a fun change to be on the media side of things.

(L to R - Me, Heather Bailey, Daria)

After a quick lunch we headed to market to help Sandi Henderson set up her booth. She'd asked us to stop by and help if we could. We helped put together a few items but other than that I don't think we were much help but we did Oooh and awww over her stuff alot! *snicker* As we were on our way out we spotted Heather Bailey from across the room. Her striking features are hard to miss! She was so gracious to take a moment to chat with us and snap a photo. (Look at how similar she and I are dressed - color of top and circle necklace. ) We also met her very good friend Beth of epbdolls.

Then it was off to the Fabric 2.0 party hosted by Kathy Miller and Caroline. The idea was to get bloggers, designers and other fun people in the biz together. I would say it was a success!! Lots of familiar and new faces in the crowd and a great personal way to meet up before hitting the showfloor the next day. I have several pics to share as it was the first time seeing some friends again in about a year and meeting lots of new ones too! Pick a favorite song, turn it up and enjoy the slide show!

There are too many names to "drop" but if you need to know who's who, just ask! Met Joel Dewberry there and he is SOOO nice!!!! You can find more fun about the fabric 2.0 party on Carolines blog and Patty's blog too!

I'm am a titch giddy right now. Flat Betty just arrived home from visiting Sandi Henderson and she put 3 fabric swatches in Betty's Guest book from her new, upcoming, yet to be revealed fabric line! OH MY WOW! Not only are the swatches great but something about seeing a them knowing that it is a "secret" and done by a dear sweet friend make it even better! *big grin* I can't and wouldn't reveal the swatches but I will share a photo from the bottom half of that page. Don't you just love Sandi's chic stickers?

"Your rug Miss"

Diposting oleh fawaid on Senin, 25 Februari 2008

I was caught by the UPS man pulling up to my house as I was just leaving this morning. I pulled along side the big brown "bus" and he said, "Your rug is here Miss. About......(then proceeds to measure the shape and size with his hands)......*smile* broke out on my face because I realize what it is and it's not a rug. "Would you like it in your car or up by the house?" I told him by the door was fine. Here's my "rug" he delivered this morning:

Usually it comes in a box so I suprised he was referencing it to be a rug BUT know knowing that you could actually SEE inside the "packaging" it makes sense. It could be a rug! and I guess it was a pretty guess on his part as to what is really was! more to come with these little lovelys soon......................

Wardrobe basics

Diposting oleh fawaid on Jumat, 22 Februari 2008

Did you catch oprah this week? the shlumpadinka episode? I love how they did the makeover's for real women in real clothing at real easy to get to retail chain stores. It just makes sense to help teach women how to shop at the same stores they go to - but smarter. Don't ya think? I loved Lloyd Bostons basics section they did too. Now I'm itching to get some new flats and definately a trench coat! So I'm thinking another shopping trip is due! I hit a few stores today but just didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Here's what I've got on my mind for coats - looks like I might need to be ordering online instead of searching the stores!
Love this color!!!!

Love this color too. The material and length are wrong for Spring but I still want it for next Fall/winter! :)
and this little number! who can resist my favorite pattern - polka dots! too cute!!!

Now on to shoes. Flats aren't something I wear alot of but they say it's better then wearing tennis shoes. I have a pair of red flats which I love to wear and I will definately be buying a couple more pairs with fun bold colors or patterns for this Spring. I'd love to buy a fun animal print pair!

Speaking of red shoes, doesn't Sandi have the cutest pair? She got alittle help from my alter ego, Flat Betty picking out those shoes. She's definately hot and trendy for this season! You can view the details about Flat Betty's latest trip here . Will you be buying anything new to add to your Spring Wardrobe?

The theme of the launch is.......................................yup, you guessed it - Ginger Blossom! All the designers will be using her fabric line and creating everything from jewerly, decor, handbags, clothing, etc. Stay tuned for the announcement of when the launch date will be.
