Get "lucky" in love with this tutorial! A fun way to add some humor, romance and a little bit of St. Patrick's day luck and magic to your decor.

Create pillows, print and frame it to hang on the wall, or even grab the mod podge and create something! There are lots of possibilities with this pattern.

I will show you how to create these two different pillows and a printed version to frame as well!
 Materials:
pillow form or batting
fabric - to cover the pillow & for applique pieces (letters/heart/shamrock)
burlap
fabric adhesive (ie heat n' bond)
paint
stencil brush
scissors
exacto knife
freezer paper
iron
sewing machine
pencil/marker
scrapbook paper (optional)
*The wording can be applied as appliques or painted on. You choose the option you like best*

Pillow #1 - "Lucky to be loved by you" - (applique version instructions)

Determine the size of the pillow you will make or cover. Cut a piece of burlap to fit in the middle of the pillow. Cut a piece of fabric for the letters. Cut it big enough so all the letter will fit. Apply the fabric adhesive to the back. Print the saying. Turn the printed saying over so the words read backwards. Using a light table or a bright, sunny window trace the letters using a pencil.

If you have trouble seeing the letters through the fabric and adhesive, peel the paper backing off and using a marker, carefully trace the letters. Cut out the letters out.

Use the same apply, trace and cut technique for the shamrock and heart choosing what colors, fabrics and textures that you like.

Arrange the letters and shapes on the burlap piece. Following the package directions from the fabric adhesive, apply the letters to the burlap. ( We used Heat n' Bond, peeled the paper off, and applied using an iron) The letters should be stuck firmly in place to the burlap.

The letters and shapes can be left as they are or sewn onto the burlap using a sewing machine.

Position the burlap piece in the middle of the fabric for the front of the pillow. Pin in place and sew around all four edges of the burlap leaving a 3/4" border. If you don't use a sewing machine, you could also hand stitch it on. (If you are adding the burlap to an existing covered pillow, simply whip stitch the burlap onto the pillow with small stitches in the corners and along the sides if necessary. This way it will be easily removed later.)

"Fray" the edges pulling at the weave of the burlap.

Finish the pillow backing, slip in the pillow form or batting and sew closed!

Pillow #2 "Lucky tonight?" (stencil/paint version instructions)

Follow the same directions as above for pillow #1 but these directions will tell you how to stencil/paint instead of cutting the letters out of fabric. Print out the wording. Lay a sheet of freezer paper over the printed letters and tape the papers in place if needed. Trace the letters. Using a mat and an exacto knife, cut out the letters to create a stencil.

Position the stencil on your burlap piece. Using a cool iron (low heat setting), adhere the freezer paper to the burlap (the freezer paper will "stick" slightly to the burlap with the low heat of the iron). Paint the letters with craft paint and a brush using whatever color matches your design. Once the paint is dry, peel off the freezer paper.

Use the finishing instructions from above to complete your pillow.

Framed Art - "Lucky to be loved by you"

Print out the saying (wording without shapes on it) on plain or decorative paper. Use fabric or scrapbook paper to create the shamrock and the heart. Adhere to the paper using a glue stick, spray adhesive, etc.

Add more color by cutting strips of scrapbook paper and placing them at the top and bottom of the page.

Pop it into the frame and hang on the wall!
