Windows 8: Made on a Mac

Above is Bill Flora and his workplace. Bill was a key leader on the team that made the Metro Interface for Windows 8 (that ugly tile thing everyone's going to hate in a few months).
Notice anything humorous about the photo? (Hint, the arrow is pointing to it).
That's right, a MacBook Pro, Cinema Display, Apple Keyboard, and Mighty Mouse made Windows 8.
Sure, it might have helped them design the operating system faster, but could it have possibly influenced them to make a better operating system?
They're a little thick over at Microsoft, so I somehow doubt that.

The Problem with Big Phones

Android phone manufacturers seem to have an obsession with huge screens. It doesn't do anything to improve them, and the resolution is rarely better than smaller screens. In the end, they just don't look as good, and they're harder to use.
The recent introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Note is so humorous. I can already see the customer-sales person interactions now.

Customer: "What can the Samsung erm... Galaka-note thingy do?"
Sales Person: "The Samsung Galaxy Note?"
Customer: "Yeah, that one. What's special about it?"
Sales Person: "Well, it's too big for a pocket or purse, yet too small to be usable as a tablet. Best of all, it uses a stylus! Wait! Where are you going?"

Samsung should have stuck to what they were best at: making poorly done imitations of Apple products. Better yet, throw the copying and silly gimmicks aside, and make something people would actually like to use.

Often, hints of new products are revealed by new iOS betas. It seems as though Apple decided to pull a fast one on tech news bloggers, by including some fake products in the plist files of the most recent iOS 5.1 beta.

That, or Apple's planning on jumping the gun and releasing an iPad 10, iPhone 10, and Apple TV 8 soon...

Android phone names have always been much like the Android OS: convoluted, larger than they need to be, and full of words to make them look as though they're high-tech.

Well, someone just made it much easier for Android phone manufacturers to create new phone names. The Android Phone Name Generator does just that. It'll take random buzzwords that are often used for Android phones, and generate a random phone name.

This is going to save HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and others so much money!

DJ Uses MacBook Pro at Microsoft Store Opening

Microsoft recently opened another one of their Microsoft Stores. If you're unaware, Microsoft Stores are essentially Apple Store clones. Microsoft tries to open them up near Apple stores, trying to say "look, we can be hip too!". Unfortunately, Microsoft is anything but cool.

They hired a DJ for their latest Microsoft Store opening. Can you guess what kind of computer he uses? Above, you can clearly see that the laptop is a MacBook Pro. Microsoft made the DJ cover up the logo with a Microsoft sticker, but you can still see the Apple logo through the sticker.

Microsoft even has trouble pretending to be cool. Maybe they should just work on making their operating system less awkward and create their own style, rather than continually copying Apple.
