Navigon has updated their iOS App with plenty of new, welcomed features. First off, it offers a new, easier to use interface. It makes navigating the app and pulling addresses from contacts easier than ever. Secondly, and perhaps the best new feature, is it's heavily reduced size. Navigon used to be one of my largest apps. Now, it's one of the smaller ones. This is because it allows you to download only the maps you need. If you don't visit every state or territory often, you have no need for a full US and Canada map. Navigon realized this, and allows users to select the maps they'd like to use. In doing so, they've reduced the size of the app dramatically. It freed up over half a GB for me.
Navigon offers this update for free for anyone who has the app. A free map update is also included. In app purchases also transfer over, so you don't have to worry about losing them. The app is available in the App Store for $49.99. Considering this makes your iPhone a better GPS unit than most dedicated GPS devices that cost at least twice that price, it's a steal.
