Samsung has had their Galaxy Tab banned in Germany for infringing on Apple's designs. The evidence that Samsung's designers used a photocopier when designing their Galaxy line of products is obvious. Though they (slightly) changed the design of the Galaxy Tab, this wasn't Samsung's only issue with copying. In fact, the amount of imitation Samsung has done is unbelievable.
Samsung's lawyers were unable to tell the difference between the Galaxy Tab and the iPad 2 from 10 feet away. Lawyers who worked on the case for weeks were unable to tell the difference between their client's hardware and their competitors. However, this was just a test of the external hardware, not the software. The hardware wasn't the only issue, as the Galaxy Tab's interface is also visually similar to iOS in some cases.
In order to try to sell the Galaxy Tab again, Samsung decided to change the external design by very little. It still looks like an iPad, and it seems the biggest change was taking the reflection off the image. There is a slight increase in the metal around the bezel.
Perhaps if they want to avoid lawsuits, and actually sell a few, they should try to create their own brand image, rather than piggybacking off of other companies' designs.
