Today, Apple approved the Google+ app. The app offers a vast improvement over the web interface, bringing notifications and huddles to iOS. Oddly enough, it seems as though the app is for iPhones only right now, supporting the 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4, as long as it's running iOS4.
You may have trouble finding it. Multiple users have had trouble searching for it on the App Store from their iPhone. The easiest way to find it? Just click this link here, which will take you right to the page.
The app's not perfect, and has already received an update. Users reported trouble logging in with the update, but forcing the app to quit fixes the issue. However, the biggest issue with the Google+ app is the lack of a landscape orientation. You can't use the app by holding your iPhone "sideways". This means you're limited to the portrait orientated keyboard, which can be a pain to use for any length of time.
Google+ hasn't been released for everyone yet, an invite is still required to join. An app for beta software is expected to be imperfect. But lacking a landscape mode is still an inconvience. If it bothers you too much, you could simply use the web interface, which allows for landscape use. However, for most people, the benefits that the app carries far exceed its limitations.
What took so long? Apple most likely had their hands on this for two weeks today, due to the July 4th weekend. They had a lot to look over, as it can access notifications, location, and the internet. Not to mention this was an app for an invite only service. While it was initially frustrating thatApple was taking so much time to approve the app, it seems now as though the time wasn't too unusual. Most apps are approved in a few days, but very few ever take longer than 2 weeks. Apple approved this app just in time.
If you're a Google+ user who's enjoying Google+, you'll want to download this free app right away. You can download it here.
