Safari's Reading List is an excellent feature. Unfortunately, isn't my only source for reading news online. In fact, I love using Flipboard on my iPhone, and after using it on the iPad, I've got to say it's one of my favorite ways to read the news. But, I, and I'm sure many others, don't just use our iOS devices for the news. One feature I'd love to have is the ability to send sites to my reading list from other apps. However, access to the Reading List is limited to Safari and Apple only.
It doesn't have to be this way though. If Apple were to release an API to app developers, they'd be able to send links to your Reading List. Of course, it would only have to be for developers on the App Store, so Apple could approve use of it. You wouldn't want someone developing an app that spammed your Reading List, would you?
Still, if Apple could find a way of regulating this, allowing developers to send links to your Safari Reading List would not only be a great feature for users, but it would also help attract users to Safari and other Apple products. It's a win-win for Apple and customers.
