4 years ago today, Apple revolutionized the cell phone industry with the release of the very first iPhone. It employed an innovative touch screen interface that made other cell phones look like dinosaurs. Despite the fact that it didn't launch with an App Store, only offering web apps to users, it was a huge success, and immensely popular. It's design has since been imitated and duplicated by Apple's competitors. Before the iPhone, few would think of owning a "smartphone", which, at the time, was awkward to use. Now you'd have trouble finding people who wouldn't like a smartphone.
The iPhone changed the cell phone, and possibly the computer markets forever. With the release of the 5th generation iPhone coming later this year, the question isn't whether or not Apple's going to release a new iPhone, but how it's going to revolutionize the industry further.
