After March, Android's market share has been steadily decreasing. Meanwhile, iPhone market share has been increasing, attracting users from Android and Blackberry. Needham, the organization that did the study, believes that Android use will only continue to decrease. The release of the Verizon iPhone removed one of the reasons many users got an Android phone: the iPhone wasn't available. The iPhone 5 could make things a lot worse, offering a low price for customers upgrading, and possible availability on Sprint and Tmobile. The iPhone 5 is going to be popular. If it's available on all major US carriers, it could take a large chunk out of Google's market share.
Google is going to have to be on their toes if they want to remain competitive. Don't believe the market can change so quickly? Just ask RIM about their Blackberry smartphones.
