If you're a professional video editor, you've probably been looking forward to the latest version of Final Cut Pro. However, you may want to wait a bit until upgrading.
While some users have been very pleased with the update, others have not. Those who like it praise the new interface, performance enhancements, and media organization options. However, there are far more critical reviews of it. They complain that it's not compatible with previous versions of Final Cut Pro, you can only import projects from iMovie, that their 3rd party plugins no longer work, that the interface has made it more like iMovie, that there is an adjustment period for the interface, lack of scratch disks for storing rendering data, and more.
Many of these issues can be fixed with updates. Third party plugin developers could update their plugins, and Apple could add the other requested features. Seeing as it's one of their most popular professional software suites, Apple will most likely dedicate time into improving Final Cut Pro X. Still, if you rely on Final Cut Pro for work, you may want to wait to upgrade, at least until you can import old FCP projects.
