The New York Times posted an interesting article on the growing trend of multiscreen computing to help increase employee productivity in the workplace.

There's also some interesting data on the sales side of monitors:
Tech firms sold 179 million monitors worldwide last year and only 130 million desktop computers — meaning “more screens per desk,” said Rhoda Alexander, who heads monitor and tablet research at IHS iSuppli. Monitors are bigger, too. The average monitor sold worldwide is 21 inches, up from 18 inches five years ago, according to iSuppli.
The Times cites the growth in multiscreen computing to the growing need to monitor multiple data streams (social media feeds, stock tickers, headlines), to studies that found people are more productive with two monitors over one, and to the drop in monitor prices -- "$200 to $300 for a 24-inch display today compared with $700 five years ago."

The idea of more screen space to accomplish more work is echoed in the article comments. Accounts, programmers, graphic designers, network administrators, and doctors all chimed in saying that keeping information visible rather than having to toggle or adjust windows to get to relevant information helped them stay focused on their work and ultimately be more productive.

It's exciting to read such positive comments on how simply adding another monitor to your workspace can make such a difference in productivity, especially because that is what DisplayLink is all about -- USB connectivity to multiple monitors.

You can read about our multi-display adapters on the DisplayLink benefits page. Connecting your primary computer to a variety of displays, including TVs, mobile screens (also tablets), and Universal Docking Stations through USB DisplayLink technology is simple and easy. Just have a look in our store and find the product that meets your multiscreen computing need.
