Buy online, pick up in the store. It's a common feature for online stores, but Apple hasn't implemented it until recently. It's not world-wide yet, but if you're in the San Francisco area, you can now order items online for pickup in an Apple store. Apple states that the option is "coming to an Apple store near you".
Apple is also expected to begin accepting returns of items bought online inside Apple retail stores.
