But now, Apple's offering AppleCare+. You'll need to buy it when you buy your iPhone, and it's an additional $99, but the plan covers everything the last AppleCare plan did, as well as two accidents due to your clumsiness. You'll also have to pay a $49 fee for the service, but that's a lot less than it would be to buy a new iPhone, or even a new screen/back and having it replaced.
You'll be able to buy the plan with your new iPhone 4S, and it'll go into effect as soon as you buy it.
