iPad users have been waiting for a Facebook app of their own for some time. However, according to the lead developer on the Facebook iPad App development team, it's been "feature complete" since May. That's why, fed up with the release delay, he's left the team to go work for Google.
Why would Facebook sit on top of a completed app for so long? According to Mashable, it's because the Facebook team is planning on releasing it alongside iOS 5. Facebook and Apple haven't exactly gotten along in the past. First, it was the removal of Facebook integration in Ping. Then, disagreements kept it from being integrated into iOS 5, as Twitter will be. So, perhaps this is finally a chance for the two companies to start getting along.
With any luck, the improved iPad app will be in the hands of users early next month. And, for the sake of iPad users, I hope it's less bug prone than Facebook's current iOS app.
