Netflix has already separated their DVD and streaming services, increasing prices for the two plans together. If you wanted both DVDs and instant streaming, you have to pay for both individually, no bundling.
Still, Netflix decided that just wasn't enough. After sending out an apology to their remaining customers today, they then announced that they were creating a new company for the DVD delivery service. So, today, Netflix introduced "Qwikster", and moved the DVD delivery service over to it. The prices will remain the same, and they promise no more random price increases in the name of greed. They explain that this was their plan all along, and use this to explain the price increase.... Something tells me they should have told their furious customers this a month ago, it would have at least been a slightly better explanation than "give us more money".
So, now you can get a few movies and tv shows on Netflix for instant streaming, or go with Qwikster for a wealth of DVDs, only a day after you want them.
Yup, there are flaws with both plans.
